Newsletter 1 – Dry cleaners & single-use plastics
According to the UN (UNEP), 300 million tons of plastic are produced each year, while only a small portion ends up recycling. Researchers estimate that more than 8.3 billion tons of plastic have been produced since the early 1950s, while only 9% of the plastic waste produced
has ever been recycled. Added to the particularly worrying data is the widespread use of plastic products that are intended to be thrown away after a single use. A use that may last a few minutes but will remain in the environment for hundreds of years.
